Datong Tai Chi Academy - 2026 Fall Session

Workshop Introduction & Schedule in Saskatoon

1. Tendon Stretching and Bone Pulling Foundation

Introduction & Benefit: This is one of the most essential foundation practices in Yang-style Taiji. It is a complete, systematic method for awakening the tendons, bones, joints, and the body’s entire structural framework.

No experience is needed.
Release long-held tension and stiffness in your tendons, muscles, and skeletal structure.
Relieve common discomfort in the shoulders, neck, lower back, hips, and knees.
Build balance and stability in the body.
Create a strong, durable physical foundation for your Taijiquan practice.

For whom: People who sit for long hours, get little exercise, or feel generally “stuck” in a sub-healthy state.

Results: Practicing about one hour per day, most people notice clear improvements within roughly 3–6 months: As tight muscles completely release and lengthen, your body reclaims its natural flexibility and mobility. With your alignment restored, your posture naturally becomes upright and balanced. Your joints move freely without stiffness, making every movement feel light, fluid, and effortless. This physical openness does more than just free your body—it brings a deep sense of focus and calm to your everyday mind.

Frequency: 1 hour per class; 16 classes in total.

Workshop Schedule: Sept 1 – Dec 15, 2026, Every Tuesday evening, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

Class Size: 6–12 persons.

2. The Art of Song (Loosening / Relaxation Work)

Introduction: "Song" is the very life of Taijiquan. "Song Gong" is the core internal work of Yang-style Taiji and the key transition from external “form” into true internal practice.

Benefits:

No experience is needed.
Experience a state of total mind-body relaxation.
Ideal for those wanting to learn the Yang Style 13 Forms well.
Dissolve deep-seated tension and awkward brute force.
Open up key pathways for Qi and blood circulation.
Build the natural state of “upper and lower body following each other” and “inside and outside united as one.”
Lay a solid internal foundation for form practice, pushing hands, and developing real internal power.

Results: If you practice Song Gong for about 1 hour a day over 3–6 months, most students will clearly notice: Their body feels warmer and more open, breathing becomes deeper, movements turn lighter and more agile, and the mind becomes calmer and more settled.

Frequency: 1 hour per class; 16 classes in total.

Workshop Schedule: Sept 1 – Dec 15, 2026, Every Tuesday evening, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

Class Size: 6–12 persons.
